A Perfect Day

Joana Hadjithomas, Khalil Joreige

A Perfect Day was written and directed by Beirut-based collaborators Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige, who have worked across several mediums to explore the cultural memory of the Lebanese Civil War. Malek is a young man adrift and out of pace with the world around him. Over the course of a day, he convinces his mother to face the realities (and legalities) of his Disappeared father while trying to somehow win back his ex. Winner of the FIPRESCI Prize at the Locarno Film Festival, A Perfect Day is an intimate and poetic look at not just a man in flux, but an entire nation.
